     Asa Powers was born on 25 November 1742 at Littleton, Massachusetts.1,2 He was the son of Reuben Powers and Azubah Wheeler. He purchased 500 acres in what is now New Salem, but then part of Shutesbury. He built a log house and cleared a farm.1,2 Asa Powers and Resinah Wheeler filed marriage intentions on 14 July 1764 at Shutesbury, Massachusetts.3

Asa Powers, age 22, married Resinah Wheeler, age 25 , daughter of Samuel Wheeler and Hepzabah Owen, in December 1764 at New Salem, Massachusetts.4,5,2,6 Asa Powers represented Shutesbury at the Massachusetts Convention of 1788 convened to decide on the Federal Constitution. He voted Nay.7,2 Asa, appeared on the US Census of 1790 at Shutesbury, Massachusetts. The enumeration reads:

2 - Free White Persons - Males - 16 and over
4 - Free White Persons - Females
7 - Number of Household Members.8


On 25 April 1790 he purchased 70 acres for £21 in Shutesbury, Massachusetts.2 Asa, appeared on the US Census of 1800 at Shutesbury, Massachusetts. The enumeration reads:

Asa, appeared on the US Census of 1810 at Shutesbury, Massachusetts. The enumeration reads:

Asa wrote his will on 10 June 1816 at Shutesbury, Massachusetts.11 He died on 8 August 1816 at Shutesbury, Massachusetts, at age 73.2 His estate was inventoried on 24 December 1816 at Shutesbury, Massachusetts, and valued at $1024.44.11,2
