     Louis II ~ Comte de Montbéliard was born in 1019.1 He was the son of Richwin , Count of Scarpone and Hildegarde. Louis was an adherent of the Emperor Henry II in the Burgundian wars.1 Louis II's full titles were the Count of St. Mihel, Monsson, and Aimance; and the Count of Bar and Montbéliard.1

Louis II ~ Comte de Montbéliard married Sophia ~ Comtesse de Bur-le-Duc, daughter of Frederick II ~ Count of Bar-le-Duc and Upper Lorraine and Matilda of Swabia, in 1040.1,2,3,4 Louis II ~ Comte de Montbéliard traveled to visitied Pope Leo IX, his uncle, in 1052 at Rome.1 He died between 1071 and 1076.1 He was buried at Église Notre-Dame, Bar-le-Duc, France.1
