Hugh I Count of Rethel was the son of Manasses III Count of Rethel and Porcieu and Yvette de Reucy.
Hugh I Count of Rethel married Melisende de Monthlhéry, daughter of Guy I de Monthlhéry ~ Seigneur de Montlhéry et Chevreuse and Saint Hodierne de Gometz ~ Dame de la Ferte.1,2 Hugh was known to be living in 1081.1 He died circa 1118.1 He was buried at Novi (not found).1
