     Robert I the Strong ~ Comte d'Anjou et Blois was the son of Rutpert III , Count of Wormsgau and Upper Rhine and Waldrada of Orléans. Robert's name was also spelt Rutpert IV der Tapfer or der Starke in German.1 Robert's name was also spelt Robert le Fort in French.1 Robert became, He was also the Rutpert IV, Count in Wormsgau.1 Robert I the Strong's full titles were the Count of Paris, Tours, and Wormsgau; and the Marquis of Anjou, Blois, Auxerre, and Nevers.2

Robert I the Strong ~ Comte d'Anjou et Blois married first wife.2,1 Robert was known to be living in 836.1 He was appointed the Lay Abbot of St. Martin de Marmoutier near Tours in 852.3,4 In 858/59, he revolted against Charles the Bald, inviting Charles' brother Ludwig to invade Neustria. After the brothers made peace, Robert was restored to favor and given the defense of Neustria against the Normans.5

Robert I the Strong ~ Comte d'Anjou et Blois married Adelaide of Alsace and Tours, daughter of Hugh II le Méfiant ~ Comte de Tours and Aba, circa 864.2 Robert was killed in battle on 25 July 866 at Brissarthe.2,1,3,5,6
