Otto I von Northeim , Count in the Rittegau

     Otto I von Northeim , Count in the Rittegau was the son of Benno von Northeim , Count in the Rittegau and Eilika. He went with Emperor Henry II to Italy in 1004. He later fought the Hungarians.¹ He was an advocate of the Abbey of Cowey.¹

Otto I von Northeim , Count in the Rittegau married Richenza of Swabia, daughter of Otto Count of Palatine of Lorraine and daughter of Hugh IV von Egisheim, after 1050.¹ Otto became, in 1061, the Duke of Bavaria by the Empress Agnes.¹ Having been deprived of Bavaria, in 1074, he led the Saxon revolt against Henry IV, and supported the anti-kings.¹ He died on 11 January 1083.¹
