     Otto I von Northeim , Count in the Rittegau was the son of Benno von Northeim , Count in the Rittegau and Eilika. He went with Emperor Henry II to Italy in 1004. He later fought the Hungarians.1 He was an advocate of the Abbey of Cowey.1

Otto I von Northeim , Count in the Rittegau married Richenza of Swabia, daughter of Otto Count of Palatine of Lorraine and daughter of Hugh IV von Egisheim, after 1050.1 Otto became, in 1061, the Duke of Bavaria by the Empress Agnes.1 Having been deprived of Bavaria, in 1074, he led the Saxon revolt against Henry IV, and supported the anti-kings.1 He died on 11 January 1083.1
