Artaxerxes II ~ Shahanshah of Iran was the son of Darius II ~ Shahanshah of Iran and Parysatis. Artaxerxes was crowned the Shahanshah of Iran in 404 BCE.1 Soon after assuming the throne, his brother, Cyrus led a revolt. He put the revolt down, defeating and killing Cyrus at the Battle of Cunoxa in 401 BCE. He attacked Egypt twice in 385 and 375 BCE, failing both times. He made changes to the Persian religion, restoring the worship of the older gods.1
