     Elizabeth Smith was born in 1655 at Norwalk, Connecticut.2,3 She was the daughter of Richard Smith and Sarah Hammond.1

Elizabeth Smith married John Whitney, son of Henry Whitney and Sarah Salmon, on 17 March 1674/75 at Norwalk, Connecticut.1,4,5 She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Norwalk in 1725.1 Elizabeth was known to be living on 3 April 1741 when her son Joseph Whitney,
in a codicil to his will, provided for her future support.1 She was buried on 13 April 1741 at East Norwalk Historical Cemetery, Norwalk, Connecticut.3
