     Harriet Jane Pangbourne was born on 31 January 1834 at Saint John, Saint John County, New Brunswick, British North America.1,2,3 She was the daughter of Captain Richard Pangbourne and Amy Anna Baker.

Harriet Jane Pangbourne, age 17, married Captain David C. Whelpley, age 17 , son of William Whelpley and Hannah Malone, on 28 June 1851.4,5,2 As of 28 June 1851,her married name was Whelpley. Harriet, age 36 years, and David Whelpley, age 37 years appeared on the Canadian Census of 1871 at Lepreau, New Brunswick, Canada.6 Harriet, age 46 years, and David Whelpley, age 47 years appeared on the Canadian Census of 1881 at Lepreau, New Brunswick, Canada.1 Harriet Jane Whelpley immigrated to the United States. She died on 26 March 1892 at Montpelier, Vermont, at age 58.2,3 She was buried at Green Mount Cemetery, Montpelier, Vermont. Harriet's epitaph reads:
