     Harriet Jane Pangbourne was born on 31 January 1834 at Saint John, Queens County, New Brunswick, Canada.1,2 She was the daughter of Captian Richard Pangbourne and Amy Anna Baker.

Harriet Jane Pangbourne, age 17, married Captain David C. Whelpley, age 17 , son of William Whelpley and Hannah Walter or Malone, on 28 June 1851.3,4 Harriet, age 36 years, and David, age 37 years , appeared on the Canadian Census of 1871 at Lepreau, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada.5 Harriet, age 46 years, and David, age 47 years , appeared on the Canadian Census of 1881 at Lepreau, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada.1 Harriet Jane Whelpley immigrated to the United States. She died on 26 March 1892 at Montpelier, Washington County, Vermont, at age 58.2,6 She was buried at Green Mount Cemetery, Montpelier, Washington County, Vermont. Harriet's epitaph reads:
