     William Fisk Sherwin was born on 14 March 1826 at Buckland, Massachusetts. He was the son of William Sherwin and Marcia Carter.

William Fisk Sherwin, age 21, married Mary Ann Howes, age 19 , daughter of Jonathan Howes and Clarissa Noyes, on 29 September 1847 at Ashfield, Massachusetts.

He was a famous composer of church music and served as a professor in the Cincinnati and Boston Conservatories of Music. Among his compositions are:

William Fisk Sherwin died on 14 April 1888 at Boston, Massachusetts, at age 62.
