He was appointed in 1807 in Brattleboro, Vermont, as the Second Assistant Judge of the County Court of Windham County, Vermont. Oliver Chapin was born on 1 October 1759 at Milford, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Daniel Chapin and Abigail Corbett.1 Oliver Chapin was christened on 4 November 1759 at Milford, Worcester County, Massachusetts. In 1775, Oliver enlisted in the Revolutionary Army, and served until December 1779.

Oliver was a country merchant in Orange. He served in 1799 in Orange, Massachusetts, as the Representative to the Massachusetts General Court. He served in that position again in 1804. Oliver and Marymoved to Brattleboro, Windham County, Vermont, in 1806. He served in 1809 as the First Assistant Judge of the County Court for Windham County, Vermont. Oliver Chapin died on 26 June 1811 at Brattleboro, Windham County, Vermont, at age 51.
