     Jonathan Jones was born on 12 July 1731 at Holliston, Massachusetts.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Jonathan Jones and Hannah Adams.

Jonathan Jones, age 42, married Mary Wood, age 39 , daughter of Samuel Wood and Mary Albee, on 4 October 1773 at Upton, Massachusetts.5,2,6 Ballou (1882) says this of him: "He appears to have been a man of much executive ability and enterprise and to have stood well, both in the church and general society, together with his wf. [wife] and family. In his day it was no scandal to piety for a man to be a licensed rumseller." He kept a tavern for a number of years in Milford before selling it to Ichabod Robinson, and then moving in 1751 to Athol, Massachusetts, and settling in that part which became Orange.2,7 Jonathan, appeared on the US Census of 1800 at Orange, Massachusetts. The enumeration reads:

1 - Free White Persons - Males - 45 and over
1 - Free White Persons - Females - 45 and over
2 - Number of Household Members Over 25.8

He died circa 1812 at Orange, Massachusetts.10 Jonathan's obituary was published on 4 January 1812; in the Columbian Centenal.10
