Mary A. Brindle was born circa 1841 at Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of John W. Brindle and Mary Anne Hanlin. Mary, age 9, appeared on the US Census of 1850 living at Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania,in the household of her parents, John W. and Mary Anne Brindle.1 Mary, age 19, appeared on the US Census of 1860 living at Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania,in the household of her parents, John W. and Brindle.2 As of 2 May 1861,her married name was Fry.3 Mary appeared on the US Census of 1870 at Guilford, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, She was in an asylum and listed as insane.4 Mary appeared on the US Census of 1880 at Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and was included in the Schedule for the Defective, Dependent, and Delinquient Classes as in an asylum and having epilepsy and insanity.5
