Eliza Maria Schoonmaker

     Eliza Maria Schoonmaker was born on 12 October 1823.¹ She was the daughter of Jacob L. Schoonmaker and Sarah Snyder. Eliza Maria Schoonmaker was christened on 16 October 1825 at Marbletown, Ulster County, New York.¹

Eliza Maria Schoonmaker, age 18, married William Travis, age 20 , son of Joseph Travis and Abigail Tompkins, on 20 January 1842 at Fallsburgh, Sullivan County, New York.² Eliza, age 26 years, and William, age 28 years, appeared on the US Census of 1850 at Wawarsing, Ulster County, New York.³ Eliza, age 31 years, and William, age 33 years, appeared on the US Census of 1855 at Fallsburgh, Sullivan County, New York.⁴ Eliza, age 36 years, and William, age 38 years, appeared on the US Census of 1860 at Mamakating, Sullivan County, New York.⁵ Eliza, age 46 years, appeared on the US Census of 1870 at Mamakating, Sullivan County, New York.⁶ Sheappeared on the US Census of 1880 in the household of David Galeway and Elizabeth Travis at Wawarsing, Ulster County, New York.⁷ According to the Federal Census in 1880, Eliza was a widow.⁷ She died on 10 December 1898 at age 75.
