     Thomas Cormier was born in 1636 at France.1,2 He was the son of Robert Cormier and Marie Péraude. Thomas Cormier immigrated in 1644 arriving at Saint-Pierre, Île Royale (now Cape Breton), Acadia, New France.1,3

Thomas Cormier married Marie-Madeleine Girouard, daughter of François Girouard dit la Varanne and Jeanne Aucoin, circa 1668 at Beaubassin, Acadia, New France. Thomas and Madeleine were among the first pioneers at Beaubassin and had a large farm at nearby Ouescoque, now Amherst Point, Nova Scotia.1,2,3,4 Thomas was a carpenter in 1686.1,2,3 He died in 1699 at Beaubassin, Acadia, New France.1
