     Captain Nathaniel Carter was born on 17 December 1735 at Lancaster, Massachusetts.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Nathaniel Carter and Thankful Sawyer.1

Captain Nathaniel Carter, age 24, married Dorothy Joslin, age 19 on 26 June 1760 at Leominster, Massachusetts.

Nathanielmoved to Stoddard, New Hampshire, circa 1761.1 He was a lieutenant in Capt. Joshua Wood's Company and marched to the alarm of 19 April 1775 to Cambridge. He served for 12 days. He later was Captain of the 1st Leominster Company, Col. Abijah Stearn's Regiment, He was commissioned a Captain 23 March 1776. He marched to Williamstown 22 August 1777 and served for 11 days. Later he was under Col. Job Cushing and served from 5 September 1777 to 12 October 1777 in the Northern Department.1 Nathaniel and Dorothyreturned to Leominster, Massachusetts, before 1787, Dorothy's death year. They lived on the Bee Hill farm with his father.1

Captain Nathaniel Carter, age 54, married Prudence Wilder, age 38 , daughter of Abner Wilder and Eunice Osgood, on 20 May 1790 at Winchendon, Massachusetts. Captain Nathaniel Carter died on 13 March 1812 at Leominster, Massachusetts, at age 76 of lung fever.1,2,4 He was buried at Pine Grove Cemetery, Leominster, Massachusetts, in plot G-20.2
