John Alexander McKenzie

     John Alexander McKenzie was born on 6 May 1843 at Mascarene, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, British North America.^2,3 He was the son of George McKenzie and Albenia Morrison.¹ John appeared on the Canadian Census of 1851 at Saint George, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, British North America, in the household of his parents, George and Albenia McKenzie.⁴ John appeared on the Canadian Census of 1861 at Saint George, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, British North America, in the household of his parents, George and Albenia McKenzie.⁵

John Alexander McKenzie married Margaret Ann Whelpley, daughter of Captain David C. Whelpley and Harriet Jane Pangbourne, in 1884.



John Alexander McKenzie appeared as Head of Household with his wife Margaret McKenzie, on the Canadian Census of 1891 at Saint George, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada; They were members of the Free Church.⁶ John was a farmer. He was listed as a farmer in the 1901 and the 1911 Census' as well in 1891.⁶ John, age 57 years, and Margaret McKenzie, age 44 years appeared on the Canadian Census of 1901 at Saint George, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada. Their religion was listed as Presbyterian.² John Alexander McKenzie appeared as Head of Household with his wife Margaret McKenzie, on the Canadian Census of 1911 at Mascarene, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada.⁷ He died on 1 March 1914 at Mascarene, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada, at age 70 from heart failure.^3,8 John was buried at McKenzie Field Cemetery, Mascarene, Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada.³
