Sarah Jane Gladwin
     Sarah Jane Cooper was born on 3 January 1837 at Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England.1,2,3,4 She was the daughter of Stephen Cooper and Jane Brasher. Sarah Jane Cooper was christened on 26 February 1837 at Saint John's Church, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England.5,6,7 She, age 46 years, appeared on the English Census of 1851 in the household of Jane Brasher at Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England.8

Sarah Jane Cooper, age 23, married Francis Gladwin, age 26 , son of George Gladwin and Elizabeth Gilbert, on 26 September 1860 at Church of St. Peter ad Vincula, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England.9,10,11 Sarah Jane Cooper, age 56 years, appeared on the English Census of 1861 in the household of Jane Brasher at Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England.1 Sarah Jane Cooper immigrated in 1868 to the United States.12,13 She and Francis Gladwin immigrated on 7 June 1869 to the United States and settled in Akron, Ohio.14,15 Sarah, age 32 years, and Francis, age 35 years, appeared on the US Census of 1870 at Akron, Ohio.16 Sarah, age 42 years, and Francis, age 45 years, appeared on the US Census of 1880 at 308 Voris Street, Akron, Ohio.17 Circa 1900, Sarah was active in the Women's Christian Temperance Union.13 Sheappeared on the US Census of 1900 in the household of Arthur Herbert Hunsicker and Frances Gladwin at 504 Allen Street, Akron, Summit County, Ohio.2 According to the Federal Census in 1900, Sarah was a widow.2 Sarah lived in 1908 In 1908 she was listed in the Akron City Directory as the widow of Francis and was living on 268 East Voris Street.18 She, age 72 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1910 at 268 East Voris Street, Akron, Summit County, Ohio.12 According to the Federal Census in 1910, Sarah was a widow.12 She died on 20 February 1912 at home on 268 East Voris Street, Akron, Summit County, Ohio, at age 75 from bronchitis.19,20,3,21,13 Sarah's obituary of 20 February 1912, reads:

Sarah Gladwin.

Mrs. Sarah Gladwin, 75, died at her home, 268 East Voris street Tuesday morning of bronchitis after a long period of ailment. The services will be held at the residence at 2 o'clock. Interment will be at Glendale cemetery
