     Levi Cheney was born on 23 November 1756 at Mendon, Massachusetts.1,2,3,4,5 He was the son of William Cheney and Joanna Thayer. Levi Cheney was christened on 2 January 1757 at Milford, Massachusetts.2,6 He and an unknown person filed marriage intentions on 4 June 1772 at Warwick, Massachusetts.7

Levi Cheney married Mary Hill, daughter of John Hill and Thankful Underwood, after 4 June 1772 at Warwick, Massachusetts.3,2,7 In 1777, he purchased 800 acres of land in what was to be the northern part of Orange, Massachusetts.8 Levi served in the 4th Regiment of Militia during the Revolutionary War in 1777.8 From 1788 to 1800, Levi was a Selectman for the District of Orange.8 On 26 December 1788, Livi Cheney and Joseph Metcalf, represented the District of Orange in the first perambulation of the town line of Orange and Warwick.8 Levi, appeared on the US Census of 1790 at Orange, Massachusetts.
