     Mary Cheney was born on 29 July 1784 at Warwick, Massachusetts.1,2,3,4,5,6 She was the daughter of Levi Cheney and Mary Hill. Mary Cheney went by the nick-name of Polly.3

Mary Cheney, age 19, married Stephen Mayo, age 21 , son of Benjamin Mayo and Dorothy Goddard, in April 1804 at Orange, Massachusetts. They were married by Joseph Metcalf, Esq.1,3,4 Mary, age 70 years, and Stephen, age 71 years , appeared on the Massachusetts State Census of 1855 at Orange, Massachusetts.7 Mary, age 75 years, and Stephen, age 76 years, appeared on the US Census of 1860 at Orange, Massachusetts.8 Mary Cheney, age 60 years, appeared on the Massachusetts State Census of 1865 in the household of Levi Mayo and Orena Smith.9 Mary, age 85 years, and Stephen, age 86 years, appeared on the US Census of 1870 at Orange, Massachusetts.10 Mary Cheney died on 2 June 1870 at Orange, Massachusetts, at age 85.1,2,3 She was buried at North Orange Cemetery, Orange, Massachusetts. Mary's epitaph reads:
