Ruth Melinda (Delvey) Harding
     Ruth Melinda Delvey was born on 15 June 1838 at Warwick, Massachusetts.1,2,3,4,5,6,7 She was the daughter of Joseph Delvey and Mary Wheaton.1 Ruth Melinda Delveyappeared on the US Census of 1850 in the household of Emerancy L. Fisher at Warwick, Massachusetts.8 Ruth, age 16 years, appeared on the Massachusetts State Census of 1855 at Barre, Massachusetts; living with the Harwood family.9

Ruth Melinda Delvey, age 20, married George Harding, age 21 , son of Alpheus Harding and Catharine Muzzy Wheeler, on 1 June 1859 at Jamaica Plain, Boston, Massachusetts. After their marriage, George worked on his father's farm for a few years.10,11,3,5,6,12,7 Ruth Melinda Delveyappeared on the US Census of 1860 in the household of Alpheus Harding and Catharine Muzzy Wheeler at Barre, Massachusetts.13 Ruth and Georgemoved to Brush Valley, Warwick, Massachusetts, circa 1864. There he worked in a shop. Ruth, age 26 years, and George, age 27 years , appeared on the Massachusetts State Census of 1865 at Warwick, Massachusetts.14 Ruth, age 31 years, and George, age 32 years, appeared on the US Census of 1870 at Warwick, Massachusetts.15 Ruth, age 41 years, and George, age 42 years, appeared on the US Census of 1880 at Warwick, Massachusetts.16 Ruth, age 61 years, and George, age 62 years, appeared on the US Census of 1900 at 78 North Main Street, Orange, Massachusetts.11 George and Ruth appeared in the 1910 Orange, Massachusetts, City Directory on 77 North Main Street.17 Ruth Melinda Delveyappeared on the US Census of 1920 in the household of Elmer Derby Whitney and Grace Idelle Harding at 77 North Main Street, Orange, Massachusetts.18 According to the Federal Census in 1920, Ruth was a widow.18 She died on 9 September 1923 at home on 77 North Main Street, Orange, Massachusetts, at age 85 at 11 o'clock in the morning.19,2,20,7 Ruth's obituary was published on 11 September 1923; by the Springfield Republican.20 Her funeral was held at her home in Orange on 12 September 1923.20 She was buried at Riverside Cemetery, Barre, Massachusetts. Ruth's epitaph reads:
