Conrad Merdian was christened on 10 December 1838 at Sankt Martinum Roemisch-Katholische, Ottersheim, Germersheim, Bavaria, Germany.1 He was born on 11 December 1838 at Ottersheim, Germersheim, Bavaria, Germany.2,3,4 He was the son of Georg Anton Merdian and Margaretha Hatzenbühler.
Conrad Merdian, age 27, married Apollonia Wolff, age 28 , daughter of Joannes Adamus Wolff and Eva Margaretha Bolz, on 24 March 1866 at Sankt Martinum Roemisch-Katholische, Ottersheim, Germersheim, Bavaria, Germany.5,4 Conrad Merdian and Apollonia Wolff immigrated on 12 September 1881 arriving at New York City, New York, on board the SS Stella out of Amsterdam.6,7,4
Conrad and Apolloniamoved to Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, in 1884.8 According to the 1885 Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, City Directory, Conrad and Lena lived in Pittsburgh and he was a laborer.9 Conrad Merdian was naturalized citizen before 1900.4 Conrad, age 61 years, and Apollonia, age 62 years , appeared on the US Census of 1900 at 2 Butler Street, Etna, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.4 Conrad was a laborer in a mill in 1900.4 Heappeared on the US Census of 1910 in the household of his son, Frank Merdian at 305 Butler Street, Etna, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.7 According to the Federal Census in 1910, Conrad was a widower.7 He died on 9 October 1919 at Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, at age 80.2,3

MERDIAN On Thursday, Oct. 9, 1919, at 9:15 a. m., Conrad Merdian, husband of the late Appalonia Merdian (nee Wolf), in his 81st year. Funeral from his late residence, 305 Butler St., Etna, on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 8:30 a. m. High mass of requiem at7 St. Mary's church, Sharpsburg, at 9 a. m. Friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend.10
He was buried on 11 October 1919 at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Sharpsburg, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.2,3 Complier's Notes:
