     Lois Elizabeth Ward was born on 24 November 1916 at Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.2,3,4,5,6 She was the daughter of Charles A. Ward and Jessie M. Saam.1 Lois, age 13, appeared on the US Census of 1930 living at 1212 Rundle Street, Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania,in the household of her parents, Charles A. and Jessie M. Ward.7 Lois, age 23, appeared on the US Census of 1940 living at 1003 Ash Street, Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania,in the household of her parents, Charles A. and Jessie M. Ward. She had a job as a clerk.8 Lois Elizabeth Ward and George Emmett Clark obtained a marriage license on 14 March 1941 at Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.2 As of 23 April 1941,her married name was Clark.2,9

Lois Elizabeth Ward, age 24, married George Emmett Clark, age 25 , son of Major William Aloysious Clark and Rose C. Daley, on 23 April 1941 at the Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.

Lois, age 33 years, and George, age 33 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 on 2329 Adams Avenue, Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.10 Lois Elizabeth Ward died on 12 August 2002 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland, at age 85.3,5,6 Lois's obituary of 14 August 2002, reads:

Lois E. Clark, formerly of Lily Lake Road, Dalton, died Monday evening at Good Samaritan Hospital, Baltimore, Md., after an illness. She was the widow of George E. Clark Sr., who died in 1963.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Charles and Jessie S Saam Ward, she resided in the Baltimore area for the past four years and had formerly resided in Dalton most of her life. She was a member of Dalton United Methodist Church and the Dalton Women's Club.

Surviving are a son, attorney George E. Clark Jr., Clarks Summit; a daughter, Nancy Clark Witaconis, Towson, Md; a sister, Romayne Davey, St. Petersburg, Fla; two brothers, Charles Ward, Hamilton, Ohio; and Gerald Ward, Middletown, Ohio; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert.

The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. Beth Jones, pastor, Dalton United Methodist Church. Interment, Fairlawn Cemetery, Dalton.

Friends may call today, 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dalton United Methodist Church.
