     Harry Clemens Buell was born on 27 March 1911 at Eastford, Connecticut.1,2,3,4,5,6 He was the son of Charles Edgar Buell and Mabel Lydia Clemens. Harry lived from 1917 to 2002 at Oliver Street, Petersham, Massachusetts.2,3 Heappeared on the US Census of 1920 in the household of Charles Edgar Buell and Mabel Lydia Clemens at Oliver Street, Petersham, Massachusetts.7 Harry graduated from from Petersham High School in 1929, at Petersham, Massachusetts.2,3 Heappeared on the US Census of 1930 in the household of Charles Edgar Buell and Mabel Lydia Clemens at Oliver Street, Petersham, Massachusetts.8 Harry graduated from from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture, now the University of Massachusetts in 1931, at Amherst, Massachusetts.3

Harry married first in September 1938 at Petersham, Massachusetts, Ruth Beals. She was born 6 March 1913 and died in December 1976.2,9 Heappeared on the US Census of 1940 in the household of Charles Edgar Buell and Mabel Lydia Clemens.10 According to the census in 1940, Harry was a farmer.10 Harry registered for the draft giving his age as 29, his address as Oliver Street, Petesham, Massachuseetts, and he was self employed on 16 October 1940 at Petersham, Massachusetts.4

Harry Clemens Buell, age 68, married Shirley Frances Woodman, age 62 , daughter of Harry Lincoln Woodman and Ruth Esther Ward, on 10 November 1979 at St. John's Episcopal Church, Athol, Massachusetts.11,12,13,14 Harry Clemens Buell died on 30 September 2002 at Athol, Massachusetts, at age 91.1,3,5,6 Harry's obituary of 1 October 2002, reads:


While operating Hope Farm, he also did construction work and started Petersham Sanitary Service, and was still working the farm at age 91. In 1941, he purchased the first tractor in town and expanded his summer garden produce sale and increased his dairy herd. In 1957, he and his first wife, the former Ruth Beals, built and operated Oak Ridge Dairy Bar until 1969, now Quabbin Woods Restaurant. She died in 1976. He was a charter member of the Petersham Orthodox Congregational Church. Buell was one of the founders and co-chairman of the Petersham Agricultural Fair from 1944 to 1962, served as animal inspector for 28 years, and served on the Petersham Board of Health for many years. He was also a past member of the Petersham School Parent-Teachers Association, serving as its president. He was a 56-year member of Star-Athol Lodge of Masons A.F. and A.M. He played for 53 years in the Petersham Brass Band. This summer, the Petersham Lions Club established "The Harry C. Buell Adult Agricultural Award" to honor his longstanding contribution to local agriculture and farming. Throughout his life, he contributed much to the Petersham community from his donations of produce to his construction of the "Buell Pond" on Oliver Street, as a place for townspeople to skate, fish and relax. He had a deep interest in stonework, as demonstrated in his building of a stone barn. He was also interested in the history of barns of Petersham, a Petersham Historical Society program. Concerned about the future of the land, he set up a trust to preserve part of the Buell homestead
