     Ruth Esther Ward was born on 9 July 1889 at Warwick, Franklin County, Massachusetts.1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 She was the daughter of Everett Daniel Ward and Cora May Harding. Ruth Esther Wardappeared on the US Census of 1900 in the household of Everett Daniel Ward and Cora May Harding at 52 Whitner Street, Orange, Franklin County, Massachusetts.1 In in December 1901, she fell on frozen ground, cutting a gash in one of her limbs.11 Ruth, age 20 years, appeared on the US Census of 1910 at North Orange Road, Orange, Franklin County, Massachusetts. She was boarding wityh the Aubrey Turner family.12 According to the Federal Census in 1910, Ruth was a public school teacher.12

Ruth Esther Ward, age 23, married Harry Lincoln Woodman, age 31 , son of Herbert J. Woodman and Mary E. Flanders, on 2 October 1912 at North Orange, Orange, Franklin County, Massachusetts. They were wed in a double ring ceremony performed by the Rev. Selden W. Cummings, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Lowell.2,9,13,14,15,16,17 Ruth, age 30 years, and Harry, age 39 years, appeared on the US Census of 1920 at 422 Pine Street, Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.18 Ruth, age 40 years, and Harry, age 49 years, appeared on the US Census of 1930 at 422 Pine Street, Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.19 Ruth, age 50 years, and Harry, age 59 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 at 422 Pine Street, Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts.20 Ruth Esther Ward died on 28 December 1980 at Athol Memorial Hospital, Athol, Worcester County, Massachusetts, at age 91.21,4,22,23,8,17 The following is from her funeral sermon:
She was not only a grandmother in her own family, but served that functions well for many people. She had the appearance of a grandmother, the mane of one, too. She appeared in church with the assurance of a dowager queen, elegantly dressed, making quips and wise cracks, kids dancing around her in great merriment, the younger folks greeting her. Hers was always a grand entrance.24


She was buried on 31 December 1980 at Jones Cemetery, Orange, Franklin County, Massachusetts.4,22,25
