     Janice Mary Woodman was born on 6 October 1919 at Lowell, Massachusetts.1,2,3,4,5,6 She was the daughter of Harry Lincoln Woodman and Ruth Esther Ward. Janice Mary Woodmanappeared on the US Census of 1920 in the household of Harry Lincoln Woodman and Ruth Esther Ward at 422 Pine Street, Lowell, Massachusetts.7 Janice Mary Woodmanappeared on the US Census of 1930 in the household of Harry Lincoln Woodman and Ruth Esther Ward at 422 Pine Street, Lowell, Massachusetts.8 Shirley and Janice often fought as kids. According to their mother, Ruth (Ward)Woodman, when they were teens, Janice kept borrowing Shirley’s outfits. Shirley went out and caught a garter snake, put it in a jar on top of her dresser in her bedroom. Janice was deathly afraid of snakes. Problem solved until mother found out.9 Janice graduated from Lowell High School in 1937, at Lowell, Massachusetts.3

Janice Mary Woodman, age 19, married Sidney Henry Smith, age 21 , son of Donald Smith and Annie MacDougal, in February 1939 at Lowell, Massachusetts.1,2,10 Janice, age 20 years, and Sidney, age 22 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 on 7 Bagley Street, Lowell, Massachusetts.11 Janicemoved to Orange, Massachusetts, in 1941.3 Janicemoved to Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania, in 1949.3

Janice Mary Woodman, age 29, married Grandville William Cooper Jr., age 26 , son of Grandville William Cooper and Mary H. ______, on 3 September 1949 at First English Lutheran Church, Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania.1,2,12 Janice, age 30 years, and Grandville, age 26 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 on 21 Deshon Manor, Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania.13 Her Social Security Number was 034-01-6302 and was issued before 1951 at Massachusetts.6

Janice Mary Woodman, age 46, married Clarence Edwin Wheeler, age 55 , son of Fred Wheeler and Grace Smith, on 1 October 1966 at Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania.2


Janice Mary Woodman, age 55, married John Daniel Farmer, age 57 , son of John Farmer and Frances Leola ______, on 21 August 1975 at Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania.2,3 Janice Mary Woodman died on 23 August 2009 at Butler Memorial Hospital, Butler, Butler County, Pennsylvania, at age 89.3,5,6 Janice's obituary of 25 August 2009, reads:

Cabot Penn - Janice M (Woodman) Farmer 89 of Concordia Assisted living in Cabot died Sunday Aug 23 2009 at the Butler Memorial Hospital Butler Penn She was born in Lowell Mass Oct 6 1919 the daughter of Harry L and Ruth E (Ward) Woodman Janice grew up in Lowell graduating from Lowell High School in 1937 and from Bradshaw Business School. She later moved to North Orange in 1941 where' she leaded for several years and since 1949 she has resided in Pennsylvania.

Janice worked at Montgomery Wards for 22 years was a member : of the Fortersville Bible Church enjoyed puzzles reading and spending time with her family.

She leaves her husband of 34 years John D Firmer whom she married August 21 1973 She also leaves a son Jeffrey S Smith and his wife Sherry of Butler a daughter Jean R Davis and her husband Gary of Slippery Rock Penn a sister Shirley Buell of Cabot step-children Robert Farmer Elaine Steinheiser and her husband Dee of Edinboro Penn Joan Phillips and Sandy Sevigny both of Orlando Fla five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren She also leaves several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren She was predeceased by two sons Richard H Smith and Grandville W Cooper a granddaughter Tracy Lynette -Scarborough and two step-children Margaret Stroman and John D Firmer Jr

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at Higgins-O’Connor Funeral Home 146 Main St Athol with the Rev Harold V Lloyd Jr pastor of the Athol Congregational Church officiating

Burial will follow at Jones Cemetery and there will be a a calling hour from 10 am until the time of service.
