     William VIII , Seigneur de Montpellier was born circa 1158.1 He was the son of William VII , Duke of Montpellier and Montferrier and Mathilda of Burgundy , Dame de Montferrier.

William VIII , Seigneur de Montpellier married Eudoxia Komnena, daughter of Alexies Komnenus and Marie Dukaina, in 1178. Eudoxia was to marry Alfonso II, King of Aragon, but when she arrived to Barcelona, he had already married Sancha so they agreed to have her married to the lord of Montpellier and that the first daughter they had would marry his heir. This way was solved a big "international relations mistake.1,2 William and Eudoxia were divorced in 1187.1 William VIII , Seigneur de Montpellier died in 1218.1
