Jacques d'Avêsnes , Seigneur d'Avêsnes, Leuze, Conde and Guise was born circa 1150.1 He was the son of Nicholas d'Avêsnes , Lord d'Avêsnes, Leuze and Conde and Mathilda de la Roche.
Jacques d'Avêsnes , Seigneur d'Avêsnes, Leuze, Conde and Guise married Adele de Guise, daughter of Bernard , Seigneur de Guise and Adelaide.1 He was the Constable of Flanders.1 Jacques was killed in battle on 7 September 1191 at Holy Land at the battle of Arsouf in the Third Crusade. The crusaders under Richard the Lion-Hearted charged the forces of Saladin prematurely, suffering great losses, and allowing Saldin's army to escape.1
