     Deacon Joshua Sherwin was born on 9 October 1737 at Hebron, Connecticut.1,2 He was the son of The Rev Jacob Sherwin and Hannah Phelps. He served during the French and Indian war under Capts. Caleb Hide, Amos Hitchock and Joshua Baker from 8 June 1757 to May 1758.1

Deacon Joshua Sherwin, age 21, married Esther Badger, daughter of Enoch Badger and Mary Rood, on 12 April 1759 at Hebron, Connecticut.1,3,2 He served as a deacon in the Ashfield Congregational Church.4 From August 1776 to December 1776, he fought at Fort Tyconderoga, then from 14 July 1778 to 2 February 1779, he served as a private win Col. Ezra Wood's Regiment, Capt. John Carpenter's Company of the Massachusetts Militia.1 Deacon Joshua Sherwin died in February 1819 at Ashfield, Massachusetts, at age 81.1
