     Deacon Archelaus Woodman was born on 9 June 1672 at Newbury, Massachusetts.1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 He was the son of Edward Woodman and Mary Goodridge.

Deacon Archelaus Woodman married Hannah Swett, daughter of John Swett and Mary Plummer, in 1695.5,9,1,7,10 Deacon Archelaus Woodman was He was a Deacon in the Baptist Church and was devoted to the Cause of Vital Piety.2,5 He was granted permission along with John Emery, Stephen Emery and Benjamin Sawyer to set up a fence across Turkey Hill to keep their sheep from running away on 14 March 1715.3 Archelaus wrote his will on 4 November 1762 at Newbury, Massachusetts. He mentions his children: Joshua, Mary, Archelaus, Hannah, Judith, Joseph, and Benjamin. His wife, Mary, is in the will.1,5 He died on 17 March 1766 at Newbury, Massachusetts, at age 93.2,3,5,11,12,8 His will was proved on 27 March 1766 at Essex County, Massachusetts.1,13 His estate was inventoried on 23 April 1766 at Newbury, Massachusetts, and the inventory included "four books of piety.5 He was buried at Sawyer Hill Burying Ground, Newburyport, Essex County, Massachusetts. Archelaus's epitaph reads:
