Sapor I ~ Shah of Iran was the son of Ardashir I ~ Shahanshah of the Sasanian Empire and Ziyanak or Mirud.
Sapor I ~ Shah of Iran married Gurdzag.1 Sapor was crowned the Shah of Iran in 241.1 Sapor I invaded Syria starting a war with Rome. In a battle near Edessa in 259, he defeated a plague ravaged Roman army and took the Emperor Valerian prisoner. Valerian later died in captivity.1 He died in 272.
