Richard Koontz Brindle
     Richard Koontz Brindle was born on 1 August 1892 at Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.1,2,3,4,5,6,7 He was the son of John George Brindle and Ethel McMichael. Richard Koontz Brindleappeared on the US Census of 1900 in the household of John George Brindle and Ethel McMichael at 204 Rose Street, Manor, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.1 Richard, age 17, appeared on the US Census of 1910 living at Cleveland Ave, Manor, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania,in the household of his parents, John George and Ethel Brindle. He worked as a laborer in a coal mine.2 According to the Federal Census in 1910, Richard was a laborer in a coal mine.2

Richard Koontz Brindle married Anna P. Shabella, daughter of Michael Shabella and Barbara Korcak.

Richard, age 27 years, and Anna Brindle, age 24 years, appeared on the US Census of 1920 at Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.10 According to the Federal Census in 1920, Richard was a coal cutter in a coal mine.10 Richard, age 37 years, and Anna Brindle, age 34 years, appeared on the US Census of 1930 at Derry, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.11 According to the Federal Census in 1930, Richard was a coal miner.11 Richard, age 47 years, and Anna Brindle, age 44 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 at Derry, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.9 According to the Federal Census in 1940, Richard was a coal cutter.9 On in 1942, Richard registered for the World War II draft, while living at FFD#3, Brenizer, Derry, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, giving his age as 49 and his employer as the Westmoreland Mining Company.12 Richard, age 57 years, and Anna Brindle, age 54 years, appeared on the US Census of 1950 at Derry, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.13 According to the Federal Census in 1950, Richard was a cutter in a coal mine.13 He was a member of Saints Simon and Jude Roman Catholic Church.5 Richard died on 12 July 1962 at home on Blairsville, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, at age 69 from a massive cerebral hemorrhage.3,14,5,6,4,7 Richard's obituary of 13 July 1962, reads:

RICHARD KOONTZ BRINDLE, 69, of Blairsville R.D. 3, passed away unexpectedly at his home early Thursday morning, July 12, 1962.

He was born in United, Pa., August 1, 1892, son of the' late John G. and Effie McMichael Brindle. He had resided in the Blairsville area for the past 31 years and was a retired SS coal miner. A member of the Simon and Jude Church R.C. Church, Blairsville; LOOM 187 of Blairsville; the UMW of A Local 5744 of BrenlIzer.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anna P. Shabella Brindle, and these children: Mrs. Robert (Barbara) Leive, Blairsville Pittsburgh; R.D. Harold L. of 3; Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Berrett of Munhall; Mrs. James (Margaret) Love of Brunswick, Ohio; Mrs. Domenic (Anna Marie) Patti of ville; three brothers, George and Robert, both of Tarentum, and Samuel of Huntingdon, Ind. There are ten grandchildren.

Friends are received at the chael F. Hallow Funeral Home, South Walnut Street, Blairsville. Requiem High Mass will be offered at 9 a.m. Monday, July 16, in the SS Simon and Jude R.C. Church, Blairsville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
