John George Brindle
     John George Brindle was born on 7 November 1867 at Beatty, Unity Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.2,3 He was the son of Phillip Kuhns Brindle and Sophia Blank.1 John George Brindleappeared on the US Census of 1870 in the household of Phillip Kuhns Brindle and Sophia Blank at Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.4

John George Brindle, age 22, married Ethel McMichael, age 17 , daughter of Samuel Warren McMichael and Catharine Stairs, on 27 November 1889.2,1,5,6,7 John, age 32 years, and Ethel, age 27 years, appeared on the US Census of 1900 on 204 Rose Street, Manor, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.2 According to the Federal Census in 1900, John was a day laborer.2 John, age 42 years, and Ethel, age 37 years, appeared on the US Census of 1910 on Cleveland Ave, Manor, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.8 According to the Federal Census in 1910, John was a machinist in a coal mine.8 John served in Headquarters Company, 332 Infantry Regiment from 1 April 1918 to 5 May 1919. He was in teh Vittoria Venta Italy engagement.9 John, age 52 years, and Ethel, age 47 years, appeared on the US Census of 1920 on 123 South Ninth Street, Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.10 According to the Federal Census in 1920, John was a machinist in a coal and coke works.10 John and Ethel are listed in the 1921 Connellsville, Pennsylvania, City Directory as living on 23 S 9th West Street.11 John, age 62 years, appeared on the US Census of 1930 on 123 South Smith Street, Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.12 According to the Federal Census in 1930, John was a machinist in a coal mine.12 He was retired circa 1935; from the H.C. Frick Coke Company.5 John, age 72 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 at 123 South Ninth Street, Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.13 John lived in 1943 at 123 South Ninth Street, Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.3 In on 21 June 1943, "George Brindle, 75, 123 South Ninth street, Connellsville, sustained severe lacerations of the head when he fell down a flight of stairs in his home. He was admitted to the hospital where his condition is reported as fair." - The Morning Herald, Uniontown Pennsylvnia.14 He died on 21 June 1943 at Connellsville Hospital, Connellsville, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, at age 75 after he fell down a flight of stairs in his home.3,5,14,15 He was buried at Saint Johns Union Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.16,3 John's obituary of November 1943, reads:

John G. Brindle, 75 years old, of 123 South Ninth street, died Monday evening at Conellsville State Hospital where he had been a patient since early Sunday morning. Mr. Brindle was born in Beaty and married Ethel McMichael at United before coming her 30 years ago. She preceded him in death by 13 years. Employed by H.C. Frick Coke Company he retired on a pension about eight years ago. Surviving are the following children: George and Samuel Brindle of Connellsville, Richard of Blairsville, Mrs. Cora St. Clair of Springdale, Howard of Meadville, and Mrs. Helen McInnes and Robert of Tarentum. He also has twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.6
