Major Joseph Mayo was born on 28 February 1720/21. He was the son of Thomas Mayo and Elizabeth Davis.
Major Joseph Mayo, age 24, married Esther Kenrick, age 19 , daughter of Captain Calib Kenrick and Abigail Bowen, on 14 November 1745. He served as the Jury Forman on the second Boston Massacre trial.1 Major Joseph Mayo died on 14 February 1776 at age 54.
