     Mary Wheeler Ward was born on 27 November 1810 at Orange, Massachusetts.1 She was the daughter of Deacon Daniel Ward and Sarah Jones.1

Mary Wheeler Ward, age 19, married Caleb Mayo, age 21 , son of Stephen Mayo and Mary Cheney, on 15 September 1830 at Orange, Massachusetts.

Mary, age 49 years, and Caleb, age 51 years, appeared on the US Census of 1860 at Orange, Massachusetts.2 In 1880, a surprise 50th Anniversary celebration was held for Caleb and Mary at their home by their children. Their great granddaughter, Henrietta Sanger, recited a poem in their honor.3 Mary Wheeler Ward died on 7 June 1886 at Orange, Massachusetts, at age 75 from a Paralysis (stroke.)1 She was buried at Tully Cemetery, Orange, Massachusetts, next to her husband. Mary's epitaph reads:
