     Richard Thompson was born on 11 June 1724 at York, Maine.1 He was the son of James Thompson and Elizabeth Frye.1 On 1750 in Kennebunk, Maine, Richard, along with his fellow pioneers petitoned the General Court of Massachusetts for the inorportation of their town. It was approved on 14 June 1750.2 In 1752, Richard bought 40 acres on the west side of his house lot.2

Richard Thompson married Elizabeth Maddox, daughter of Caleb Maddox and Elizabeth Smith, in 1757 at Kennebunk, Maine.1 In 1818, a list was drawn up of soldiers of the Revoluitonary War. Richard Thompson and David Thompson were on that list.2 Richard Thompson died on 30 April 1802 at Kennebunk, Maine, at age 77.
