Compeller's Notes:
Parents: Ancestry.com has his parents as Pierre Parenteau (1755–1817) and Marie-Anne Martin (1766–1861). This may well be, but I have found no other reference, and upon looking them up in the Programme de recherche en démographie historique (PRDH) I find they had no son named Joseph who was born in the timeframe given by the Census records.
