Ruth (Gallagher) Sullivan
     Ruth V. Gallagher was born on 20 June 1921 at Buffalo, New York.1,2,3,4,5 She was the daughter of Aloysius Francis Gallagher and Elizabeth Irene Hennessey. Ruth V. Gallagherappeared on the US Census of 1930 in the household of Aloysius Francis Gallagher and Elizabeth Irene Hennessey at 937 Grandview Street, Scranton, Pennsylvania.6 Ruth graduated from St. Leonard Academy in 1939, at West Philadelphia, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.3 Sheappeared on the US Census of 1940 in the household of Aloysius Francis Gallagher and Elizabeth Irene Hennessey at Haverford, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.7,5

Ruth V. Gallagher, age 20, married Edmund Joseph Sullivan, age 20 , son of Captain Thomas Florence Sullivan and Agnes Kavanaugh, on 15 October 1941.4,5 Ruth lived in January 1970 at Drexel Hill, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, At the time of her father's death, January 1970, she lived in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania.8 Ruth lived in 2011 at Media, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, when she passed away.1 She died on 9 May 2011 at Glen Mills, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, at age 89.1,3,5 Ruth's obituary of 12 May 2011, reads:

Ruth G. Sullivan of Glen Mills

Ruth Gallagher Sullivan, 89, a dedicated homemaker and enthusiastic volunteer, died Monday from complications of multiple strokes at Renaissance Gardens of Maris Grove in Glen Mills.
She committed her life to raising and educating her seven children. Ruth was born in Buffalo, N.Y. and raised in New York State and suburban Philadelphia. She attended St. Andrew Elementary School in Drexel Hill and graduated high school from St. Leonard Academy in West Philadelphia in 1939. She attended Immaculata College and also Our Lady of Angels College, now Neuman University.
With her deceased husband Edmund (Sully), whom she was married in 1941, she had been a member of St. Dorothy Church in Drexel Hill since April 1952. Mrs. Sullivan's employments included the foreign student office at Villanova University, Lord & Taylor Department Stores modeling for Wingback Jewelry, and Wannamaker Department Stores. Her volunteer organizations included PEO (Philanthropic Education Organization), and the Red Hats Society.
In addition, during the 1960's, she co-founded the Great Books Discussion Group for students at St. Dorothy Elementary School. With her husband Sully, Ruth was an avid traveler and took particular pleasure in taking courses through Elder Hostel (now Roads Scholar).
Mrs. Sullivan also enjoyed and became a certified instructor for Jacki Sorensen's aerobic dancing, which she did into her late 60's.
Ruth was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Hennessey Gallagher and Aloysius Gallagher. Mrs. Sullivan is survived by daughters, Denise and Shelly, sons Edmund J, Jr, Timothy, Kevin, Brian, and Mark, 31 grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at St. Dorothy Church at Township Line and Burmont Road in Drexel Hill. Friends may call at 12 noon. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon.3


She was buried on 14 May 2011 at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.3,5
