Joan, Countess of Ponthieu
     In English, she was Joan, Countess of Ponthieu, and in French she was Jeanne de Dammartin. She was also called Jeanne d'Aumale.1,2,3 Jeanne de Dammartin was born between 1208 and 1220.4 She was the daughter of Simon II de Dammartin , Count of Aumale and Marie of Ponthieu , Countess of Ponthieu and Montreuil.

Jeanne de Dammartin married Ferdinand III the Saint , King of Castile, son of Alfonso IX el Barboro and Berengaria of Castile, in 1237 at Burgos, Castile, Spain.4,5 In 1251 she became the heiress of Ponthieu and the Countess of Montreuil and Aumale.4,6,5 Jeanne de Dammartin died on 16 March 1279 at Abbeville, Somme, Hauts-de-Franc, France.4,7,5,1 She was buried at Valloires Abbey, Argoules, France.4
