William I ~ Comte de Provence et Arles was born circa 955.1 He was the son of Boson II ~ Comte de Provence à Arles et Avignon and Constance of Provence. William became, in 979, the Marquis of Provence.1
William I ~ Comte de Provence et Arles married Adelaide of Anjou, daughter of Fulk II the Good ~ Comte d'Anjou and Gerberga of the Gatinais, after 981.1 In his later life, he became a monk at Avignon.1 William I ~ Comte de Provence et Arles died in 994 at Avignon, France.1
