     Phoebe Lavina Green was born on 20 March 1891 at Indiana County, Pennsylvania.2,1 She was the daughter of David E. Green and Mary Jane Clark.1 Phoebe Lavina Greenappeared on the US Census of 1900 in the household of David E. Green and Mary Jane Clark at Derry, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.3

Phoebe Lavina Green, age 21, married Charles Henry Brindle, age 20 , son of John George Brindle and Ethel McMichael, on 28 August 1912 at United Brethren Church, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. Their wedding announcement read:

At noon today, Miss Phoebe Green, of Avenue A, daughter of Mrs. Mary Green, was united In marriage at the I united Brethren church by Rev. W, A. Sites, to Mr, Charles Brlndle, of Beat ty. A large number of friends were present to witness the ceremony. Miss Emma" Eaton ' played the wedding march. Following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served at the home of Jacob Green, of Avenue C, a brother of the bride.4,5


Phoebe, age 28 years, and Charles, age 27 years, appeared on the US Census of 1920 on 2621 Avenue A, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.6 Phoebe, age 38 years, and Charles, age 37 years, appeared on the US Census of 1930 on 2621 Laveen Street, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.7 Phoebe, age 48 years, appeared on the US Census of 1940 on 160 Bloch Avenue, C-D, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.8 According to the Federal Census in 1940, Phoebe was a widow.8 She and Charles Benjamin Everett obtained a marriage license on 21 May 1942 at Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.9

Phoebe Lavina Green married Charles Benjamin Everett, son of Benjamin Everett and Margaret Hillman, after 21 May 1942.

Phoebe Lavina Green married Homer Carl Shirey, son of Joseph Conrad Shirey and Martha A. Sheaarer, in 1961.10 Phoebe Lavina Green died on 19 December 1978 at Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, at age 87.2 Phoebe's obituary of 27 December 1978, reads:

Mrs. Phebe L. Shirey, 87, of Latrobe R.D. 4 died Tuesday morning in Edgewood Nursing Center, Youngstown.

She was born in Indiana, Pa., March 20, 1891, daughter of the late David and Mary Jane Green.

She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Latrobe.

She is survived by her husband, Homer C. Shirey; one daughter, Mrs. Conrad (Althea) Gordon of Latrobe; two sons, Paul I. Brindle of Roselle, Ill., and George A. Brindle of Latrobe; three stepdaughters, Miss Catherine Shirey and Mrs. Earl (Beatrice) Mickey; both of Latrobe, and Mrs. Chester (Eleanor) Fyalkowski of Florida; 16 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received in M.S. Hartman Funeral Home, Latrobe, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. William Schmeling officiating.

Interment will follow in Unity Cemetery.1


She was buried on 28 December 1978 at Unity Cemetery, Latrobe, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, in section H.11,1
