     Marlin Ebenezer Hill was born on 22 May 1831 at Chelsea, Vermont.1,2,3 He was the son of Ebenezer Hill and Ruth Wheeler.

Marlin Ebenezer Hill, age 28, married Evaline Melvina LaClair, age 20 , daughter of Joseph LaClair and Mary Holt, on 19 June 1859 at Berlin, Vermont.4,5 Marlin, age 28 years, and Evaline, age 21 years, appeared on the US Census of 1860 at Berlin, Vermont.6 According to the Federal Census in 1860, Marlin was a sawyer.6 Marlin registered for the draft in 1863 at Berlin, Vermont.7 Marlin, age 38 years, and Evaline, age 31 years, appeared on the US Census of 1870 at Berlin, Vermont.8 Marlin, age 48 years, and Evaline, age 41 years, appeared on the US Census of 1880 at Berlin, Vermont.9 Marlin was a farmer according to the Census in 1880.9 Marlin, age 68 years, and Evaline, age 61 years, appeared on the US Census of 1900 at Berlin, Vermont.1 According to the Federal Census in 1900, Marlin was a farmer.1 He died on 7 July 1909 at Washington County, Vermont, at age 78 from a hemorrhage at 6:30 in the morning.2,5,3 Marlin's obituary of 8 July 1909, reads:

Marlin Hill, aged 78 years, died at 6.30 Wednesday morning at his home on West hill near West Berlin of a hemorrhage. He has been in ill health for several years but did not take to the bed until Sunday morning. He Is survived by a wife, eight children and 19 grand children.

Mr. and Mrs. Hill celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on June 19 His brother died the same day of the month some years ago.

The children of the deceased are Edward, of Bathel; Elmer and Ernest of Berlin; Herman, of San Pedro, Cal., Mary E., wife of Peter Ryan, of West Berlin; Nora, wife of Frank Woodbury, of Los Angeles, Cal., Ellen P., wife of Frank Seymour; Nora, who lives at home.

The deceased has lived in Berlin practically all of his life, owning a farm on West hill. The funeral will probably be held Friday.5


He was buried on 10 July 1909 at West Berlin Cemetery, West Berlin, Vermont, in row 2.2
