     Evaline Melvina LaClair was born on 9 September 1838 at Berlin, Vermont.2,3,4,1 She was the daughter of Joseph LaClair and Mary Holt.1

Evaline Melvina LaClair, age 20, married Marlin Ebenezer Hill, age 28 , son of Ebenezer Hill and Ruth Wheeler, on 19 June 1859 at Berlin, Vermont.5,6 Evaline, age 21 years, and Marlin, age 28 years, appeared on the US Census of 1860 at Berlin, Vermont.7 Evaline, age 31 years, and Marlin, age 38 years, appeared on the US Census of 1870 at Berlin, Vermont.8 Evaline, age 41 years, and Marlin, age 48 years, appeared on the US Census of 1880 at Berlin, Vermont.9 Evaline, age 61 years, and Marlin, age 68 years, appeared on the US Census of 1900 at Berlin, Vermont.2 Evaline Melvina LaClairappeared on the US Census of 1910 in the household of Elmer M. Hill at West Hill Road, Berlin, Vermont.10 Evaline Melvina LaClairappeared on the US Census of 1920 in the household of Elmer M. Hill at Berlin, Vermont.11 According to the Federal Census in 1920, Evaline was a widow.11 She died on 1 June 1922 at home on West Hill Road, Berlin, Vermont, at age 83 from acute dilitalion of the heart caused by chronic bronchitis. She had been confined to her, bed for nearly two years.3,4,1 Evaline's obituary of 3 June 1922, reads:

DEATH IN WEST BERLIN


Mrs. Eveline Hill passed away at her home on West Hill shortly after five o'clock: Thursday morning from dilation of the heart caused by chronic bronchitis. She had been confined to her, bed for nearly two years. The funeral was held Saturday, from her late, home with interment in se village cemetery. Dr. Creegan of the Congregational church in Northfleld officiated with Mr. McCormick as director.

Eveline LaClair; was born September 9, 1840, daughter of Joseph and Mary Holt Laclair, June 19,1859, she was united in marriage to Martin Hill, Eight children were born to them, seven of whom survive her. Edwin J., Mary E. wife of Peter Ryan, Elmer M-, Nora E. wife of George Norcross; Herman E., Ellen M. wife of Frank Seymore; Ernest A. and Flora E.

Mrs. Hill was a lover of her home and always made her friends welcome a chance to visit her. She was a patient sufferer, tenderly cared for by her daughter, Flora, assisted by Mrs. Ryan and Mrs. Seymore. A Bad blow came to her last fall in the death of her son Herman, of California. He had been with her through the summer months. She was particularly fond of flowers and had her piazza full of them from . which she sent them out to her many friends. The family have the sincere sympathy of the community in their sad bereavement.1


She was buried at West Berlin Cemetery, West Berlin, Vermont, in row 2.3
