In 1927, he received his veteran's medal at Shutesbury, Massachusetts.3,13 George, age 36 years, and Jane, age 34 years, appeared on the US Census of 1880 at Shutesbury, Massachusetts.14 According to the census in 1880, George was a farmer.14 He, age 56 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1900 at Montague, Massachusetts.5 According to the Federal Census in 1900, George was a truck farmer.5 He, age 66 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1910 at Central Street, Montague, Massachusetts.15 According to the Federal Census in 1910, George was a farmer.15 He, age 76 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1920 at Central Street, Montague, Massachusetts.16 He died on 18 December 1927 at Montague, Massachusetts, at age 84 at the home of his daughter, Kate Tillson.1,3,4,13 George's obituary was published on 20 December 1927.13 He was buried on 21 December 1927 at Elm Grove Cemetery, Montague, Massachusetts.4,13
