     Jean II d'Avêsnes , Count of Hainault and Holland was born in 1247 at Brabant, Holland.1 He was the son of Jean I d'Avêsnes , Seigneur d'Avesnes and Adelaide of Holland. Jean II's full titles were Count of Hainault and Holland; and the Seigneur d'Avêsnes.1

Jean II d'Avêsnes , Count of Hainault and Holland married Philippa of Luxemburg, daughter of Henry III the Blond , Count of Luxemburg and Arlon and Mathilde de Bar-le-Duc, in 1270.1,2 Jean became, in 1299, the Count of Hainault.1 He died on 22 August 1304.1,2
