     Katharina Schemel was born on 13 September 1858 at Werbeln, Wadgassen, Saarland, Germany.1,2,3,4 She was the daughter of Jacob Schemel and Anna Rupp.

Katharina Schemel, age 20, married Nicholas Burg, age 25 , son of Georg Burg and Maria Burg, on 27 May 1879 at Differten (now Wadgassen), Saarland, Germany.1,2,4 Katharina Schemel and Nicholas Burg immigrated in 1881 to the United States arriving in New York City in 22 September 1881 on board the SS Belgenland, from Antwerp, Belgium.1,5 Katharina, age 41 years, and Nicholas, age 46 years, appeared on the US Census of 1900 at Ridge Road, Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.1 Katharina, age 51 years, appeared on the US Census of 1910 at Greenhill Street, Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.6 Katharina, age 61 years, appeared on the US Census of 1920 at 204 Sauarence Street, Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.7 She died on 17 November 1923 at Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, at age 65.2 She was buried at Saint Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Archbald, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.2
