Lambert II , Count of Louvain and Brussels was born circa 990.1,2 He was the son of Lambert I the Bearded , Count of Louvain and Mons and Gerberga of Lower Lorraine.
Lambert II , Count of Louvain and Brussels married Oda, daughter of Gonzelon I , Margrave of Antwerp, Count of Verdun, and Duke of Lower Lorraine.1,2,3,4 Lambert arranged to transfer the remains of Saint Gudule to the St. Michael church. This church, thereafter known as Saints-Michel-et-Gudule, developed to become St. Michael and Gudula Cathedral.4 In 1054 he took up arms against Emperor Henry III, and lost his life at Tounai.4 Lambert II , Count of Louvain and Brussels was killed in battle on 19 June 1054 at Tournai, Wallonia, France, now Belgium.1,2,4 He was buried at Nivelles, Wallonia, France, now Belgium.1
