Deacon Thomas Harris Ward
     Deacon Thomas Harris Ward was born on 28 March 1814 at Orange, Massachusetts.1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 He was the son of Deacon Daniel Ward and Sarah Jones.

Deacon Thomas Harris Ward, age 21, married Esther Kellogg Mayo, age 21 , daughter of Stephen Mayo and Mary Cheney, on 27 October 1835.9,8,10 Deacon Thomas Harris Wardappeared on the US Census of 1850 in the household of Levi Jones Ward and Eliza Whipple Temple at Orange, Massachusetts.11 Deacon Thomas Harris Ward, 40 years, appeared as Head of Household on the Massachusetts State Census of 1855.12 According to the Federal Census in June 1855, Thomas was a farmer.11 He, age 45 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1860 at Orange, Massachusetts.13 According to the Federal Census, Thomas was a farmer.13 He, 50 years, appeared as Head of Household on the Massachusetts State Census of 1865 at Orange, Massachusetts.14 He, age 55 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1870 at Orange, Massachusetts.15 According to the Federal Census in 1870, Thomas was a farmer.15 He, age 65 years, appeared as head of household on the census of 1880 at Orange, Massachusetts.16 According to the Federal Census in 1880, Thomas was a farmer.16 He died on 5 July 1891 at North Orange, Orange, Massachusetts, at age 77 from neuralgia of the heart or apoplexy very suddenly.7,17,2,3,5,18 Thomas's obituary of 14 July 1891, reads:

He was a man of strong convictions, devoted to his family, friends and the religion he espoused, being a member and deacon of the Congregational Church for many years.

The funeral was held at the house Wednesday Rev. Mr. Judson officiating with prayer by Mr. Gorman. The text was selected by Mr. Ward in his youth, from the dying words of Christ "Father into thy hands, I commend my spirit." It was excellently discoursed on. Singing was rendered by Mrs. Richardson and Miss. Blodgett, while the flowers were numerous and beautiful, comprising wreaths and a pillow of lillies and maiden-hair ferns enclosing a cross of pansies. The bearers were the sons and grandson; also Mr. Williams had charge.18


His estate was probated on 27 September 1892 at Franklin County, Massachusetts.19 He was buried at Jones Cemetery, Orange, Massachusetts.7,18
