Sophia Blanck
     Sophia Blank was born on 8 October 1839 at Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.2,1,3 She was the daughter of George Adam Blank and Catherine Shelley.1 Sophia Blankappeared on the US Census of 1860 in the household of George Adam Blank and Catherine Shelley at Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.4

Sophia Blank married Phillip Kuhns Brindle, son of John W. Brindle and Mary Hanlin, in 1867.2,5 Sophia, age 30 years, and Phillip, age 34 years, appeared on the US Census of 1870 at Hempfield Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.6 Sophia, age 40 years, and Phillip, age 44 years, appeared on the US Census of 1880 at Paradise, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.7 Sophia, age 60 years, and Phillip, age 64 years, appeared on the US Census of 1900 on 1 Traveling Hand of Gipsies, Mount Pleasant Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.2 Sophia, age 70 years, appeared on the US Census of 1910 on 7347 Race Street, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.8 According to the Federal Census in 1910, Sophia was a widow.8 Sheappeared on the US Census of 1920 in the household of William Edwin Smead and Margaret M. Smead at Frankstown Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.9 Sophia Blank died on 27 February 1923 at home on 6904 Hamilton, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at age 83 from a cerebral embolism. She was living with her daughter, Margaret.1,10,3 She was buried in March 1923 at Union Cemetery, Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.1,10 Sophia's obituary of 1 March 1923, reads:

Mrs. Sophia Blanck Brindle, aged 83, died Tuesrday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Smead, 5904 Hamilton ave., Brushton. She was born in Greensburg, Pa., and came to Pittsburgh many years ago. She was a member of SL Stephen's Lutheran church, Brushton. She Is survived by two sons, Harry Brindle of Monongahela City, Pa., and John Brindle of Connellsville, Pa., and six daughters Mrs. R. C. Welty of Greensburg, Mrs. E. R. Goodwin, Mrs. Leola Van Horne and Miss Alice Brindle of Pittsburgh, Mr. O. M. Wallace of Uniontown. Pa., and Mrs. Smead
